AntdorfI like Antdorf because we have a little pond. It is not permitted to take a bath but there is a particular path for experiencing a walk on bare foot and a place for bondfires right in front of it. At the pond there grows a beautiful big tree with a swing attached to a branch. Sitting on the round plate on that rope it is possible to fly almost all over the pond. We have a small baker which bakes the best cheese rolls in the world. Unfortunately he will close in short. An old house near the turning loop is there as well. It eventually collapsees but nevertheless it is special. Antdorf even has an airport, the guy who is bukidling the planes there is called Tom.

In my village Habach a sport club's house was built in 2010. There are three farms. One is next to us. I often go to drive a tractor. We have a cabinetmakery. My dad is the boss.
In 2012 the village store was opened in Ha-bach. We have a volunteer fire brigade, too. In Habach there is an own kindergarten and an own primary school. In winter I love to ride a bobsled on one of our many slopes. In springtime tulips, daffodils and apple trees bloom im all gardens. It is lovely when I can refresh myself in summer in our own Habach bathing pond. In fall all children collect the many chestnuts under the tall trees at the cemetery wall. Habach is so pretty that even a family of 5 storks decided to move here. |

Unser Dorf Habach
men. Sebastian W.

We also have a village store which will be opened on May 12. There is as well a house for the clubs which is used by the sport club and by the local brass band. Particularly beautiful is our church St. Ulrich which in the old days belonged to an Augustinian Monastery. In winter we can go skiing at the ski lift. We have a big soccer field with a cinder track and a tennis court.

Unser Dorf Antdorf

Antdorf is a small village in Bavaria situated at the feet of the Alps. There are a lot of farm houses and a kindergarden. The old school building is used as a gym and as a space for clubs now. At the Beidensee lake there will be lots of frogs soon. On the soccer field there are tournaments and games on a regular base. Every three years a may tree gets erected. In Antdorf only there is an event at this opportunity called "Mailauf" (May run). For this purpose unwed women over 17 years run across a field and leap at the men who are sitting with the back turned towards them. The village festivals go along with brass music.

Antdorf was founded by three dukes who were called the dukes of Antdorf. The dukes of Antdorf`s names werde Landfried, Wald- ram and Eliland. Antdorf has about 1200 in- habitants. Erecting a may tree is a great tra- dition in Antdorf. Every three years the may tree gets renewed. And every time a new may tree gets erected there is the Antdorf May run, too. At this opportunity the young men sit down on a bench with their backs toward the young women who are standing 1oo meters further away. As soon as it starts the young women run towards the young men. The young women chose a young man they want to spend the rest of the day and dance with and those who don't get a young woman have to dance with a broom.
Maxi R.
All the men who didn't get a woman have to dance with a broom or with a lantern, because in the evening all men dance with the women they got.

Mailaufen 2009 (deutsch)
May Run 2009 (German)
Es gibt alle drei Jahre ein Maibaumaufstellen. Dieses Jahr war der Baum 40 m hoch.
Anna T.

Mailaufen 2009 (deutsch)
May Run 2009 (German)
Every three years there is the setup of a May tree. This year it was 40 m high.
Anna T.
The May tree is taken out of the forest in the early morning by the May boys. In the forest there are three trees they can chose from. If the first one breaks they can get the second one. The May tree is brought to the church by horses where subsequently it is erected by the May boys. Before this it is blessed by our mi- nister. It is a big festival where all of the vil- lage celebrates together. The May tree is 36 to 40 meters high. On the church square lunch and something to drink is provided. The music band plays all day long.
Felix Z.
From my window I see the Alps, the largest mountain range in Europe. Only here exists the May run, on the first Sunday of May. The May run is to be found in Bavaria since the 18th century, but today it is only performed in Antdorf. All unwed women and girls from 16 years on are standing at one end of a large meadow. On the other end the men are sitting with their back towards the women. On command the women start to run and leap onto the men. Whom they grab is a matter of chance. With this man they have to spend all of the remaining day. Unfortunately the May run only happens every third year.
Leonie K.
Boys and girls that are not married are allo- wed to participate in the May run. The boys walk through the villageall yelling and pick up the girls. After this they sit down on beer benches which are standing on a big meadow.

We walk through Antdorf
In Antdorf there is a lot to see, e.g. the Ant- dorf Café-Bistro-Guesthouse, Schleierweg 8. Or as well our marvellous town hall in Schlei- erweg 3. Next to it on the right there is a little playground. The beverage store is in Haupt-strasse 3. On the left of it there is the butcher, in the front the restaurant, and in the back you can buy sausages all by yourself. Our bakery, Bäckerei Wagner, is situated in Dorf- straße 6. In the bakery you can also buy sweets and newspapers. One of the oldest houses of Antdorf is in Lindenstrasse 9. This house is way over 100 years old. The former sacristan's house hosts the room for the youth and the acolytes in the cellar, the church office on the first floor and the parish hall for events on the second floor. The sports field is equipped with a German curling ground, a bowling alley, the workout studio and the soccer field, of course. And the cul- minating point is our church. It is in the cen- ter of the village and has a clock on either side. The point of its steeple is onion-shaped. The church bears the name "St. Peter and Paul". Eva R.
There are a lot of clubs, e.g. the Bavarian cos- tumes club (there you dance), the gymnastics club, the sports club etc.
Carlotta R.
I like Antdorf because it is cosy and small and because I can go everywhere all on my own and because friendly people are living here that I can always adress to. Landscape and nature around Antdorf are very pretty be- cause of the mountains and lakes nearby. In summer I particularly like the dandelion mea- dows and in winter the snow covered hills and mountains where we can go downhill with a sled or with skis. I find the traditional festivals terrific, too. For me the setup of a May tree belongs to them, the May run and other village festivals. I especially like it when we and others are wearing Bavarian costu- mes. In Antdorf there are a lot of events for children, e.g. cinema for children, holiday programs, gymnastics and dancing for child- ren in the old school and a whole lot more.
